Heat pumps for coastal Georgia
A heat pump is simply an air conditioner that can run backwards, and in a climate with long humid summers and short mild winters that makes it the efficient choice for most homes here. It also means one machine carries your comfort all year, so how well it is installed and maintained matters twice as much.

Where a heat pump makes sense
- All-electric homes, which most island construction is
- Replacing an aging straight-cool system with electric strip heat
- Homes where running a gas line is impractical or unwanted
- Additions, garages and bonus rooms, often as a ductless unit
What we pay attention to here
- Coil coating and placement, because salt air corrodes outdoor coils and connections
- Defrost controls, which do real work in our damp winters
- Auxiliary heat staging, so you are not paying for strip heat the house did not need
- Humidity control, which is as much about correct sizing as equipment tier

“Our AC stopped working around noon, and with temperatures already over 90 degrees, we knew we needed help fast… They had Chris at our home within an hour of our call… we signed up for their twice-yearly maintenance plan before Chris left.”
“Very transparent. Explained all my required repairs and provided a per repair breakdown for full consideration… Don't get ripped off, call these guys first.”
“After returning home from a trip, I walked into a hot house and realized my AC wasn't working. Even with everything he had going on, he took the time on a weekend to walk me through the troubleshooting process.”
Questions about heat pumps
Do heat pumps work when it is cold here?
Easily. Our design winter temperatures are mild, and modern heat pumps hold capacity far below anything Chatham County produces. Auxiliary heat covers the rare cold snap.
Is a heat pump more expensive to run than gas?
In this climate, usually not, because the heating season is short and the cooling season is long. We will look at your actual utility setup rather than quoting a national rule of thumb.
